JCPenney will open its doors earlier this Thanksgiving for Black Friday shopping.

The store says it will open at 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving afternoon. That's one hour earlier than in years past.

It's encouraging shoppers to post photos of their receipts on social media to flaunt their savings.

The retailer will also host a "Black Friday Prices Now" event from November 16 to 18, promising prices comparable to Black Friday on items such as pajamas, cookware and jewelry.
