ALBANY -- The group arrived in Albany's Washington Park, ready for the hunt.
They're part of the Northeastern Association of the Blind at Albany youth program.
The children are blind or visually impaired, and the eggs BEEP.
The children spread out over the field listening, laughing, and locating.
"It was really easy to find the eggs," said Isabella from Catskill. "All you had to do was because I was walking, I just tuned in to one egg that I wanted that was close to me and I would go for it, and one time, I was actually sitting on one and I didn't know and I found it."
NABA found a way to make an Easter tradition more accessible.
There were a lot of smiles in the park.
"We've never experienced using beeping eggs before," said Mary from Diamond Point.
"Yes, it was a new experience! It was fun," added Carlee from Albany.
The kids were blindfolded, so everyone would have the same level of visual impairment.
"I found two. I was thinking I'm not going to find it after my friend Carlee found it, but I actually did. I found two. And I was asking the woman if I could find another one because it was so much fun," said Kisa from Colonie.
They got to trade in the eggs they found for candy.
"And they were created by, a bomb specialist created these beeping eggs. And we were blindfolded and we were able to find the eggs just by listening," said Faith from Averill Park.
The bomb specialists are local ATF agents who volunteered their time and expertise to make each beeping egg. Agents say it's all worth it to put a smile on a child's face.
"It was easier for me because instead of seeing it, you can hear it. It makes it easier to find them," said Carlee.
"The eggs beeping, I never saw that in my life! I'm serious!" said Isaiah from Troy.
One little girl found an egg, then, with a huge smile on her face, said that she's so happy. For all the people who helped put this together, that's what it's all about.
