Albany High School closed Friday

ALBANY – Albany High School will be closed Friday as the school and police investigate several fights there on Thursday.

Ten people were arrested. Four of them are adults. A fire alarm emptied the school just before 2:30 p.m. That’s when police say the fights broke out.

"Some of them were of age [and] some of them were minors so they will all be charged accordingly,” said district spokesman Ron Lesko. “We will also follow our student code of conduct and any disciplinary measures that are appropriate.”

"We're still kind of sorting everything out with this but we're taking the necessary precautions tomorrow just to ensure that everybody is safe,” said Steve Smith of the Albany Police Department.

One student has been treated for a minor injury.
