Albany man charged with murder

ALBANY -- An Albany man is facing charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence.

Authorities say Ed Mero is in custody, charged with two counts of second degree murder. He was booked Friday.

Prosecutors refused comment on the case and didn't offer details about the murder charges.

Mero was named as a person of interest in the suspicious death of Shelby Countermine. Police searched his Maplewood home in May 2015.

Countermine was 23 years old when she went missing in December 2014. A jogger found her remains the following May buried in a shallow grave in the woods in Coeymans Hollow.
