Albany police mourn loss of asst. chief, chaplain

Albany Police Assistant Chief and Chaplain Father James Lefebvre has died.

The police department says Father Lefebvre died early Tuesday morning at a rehabilitation center in Albany. He was appointed as honorary assistant chief in 2014.

Father Lefebvre is remembered as an advocate for civil rights and for the poor -- and the man who really cared about all police officers and their families.

Father Lefebvre was 83 years old.
