The Albany City School District has a new superintendent. The Board of Education selected Joseph Hochreiter to take over.

Hochreiter has 14 years of experience as a superintendent in two New York districts. He previously worked in Elmira and the Hendrick Hudson Central School District.

The board selected Hochreiter following a national search led by Capital Region BOCES.

Pending board approval of a three-year contract at Thursday’s board meeting, he will begin June 1.

He will replace Kaweeda Adams, who stepped down in January.
