Albany St. Patrick's Day Parade goes on despite cold

ALBANY – You know it was cold if you were out for the 67th annual Albany St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The cold nearly kept the parade from happening. Organizers say they held a meeting Friday night to discuss concerns about the freezing temperatures. But in the end, the Irish spirit overruled the frosty temps.

“It was cold out today, absolutely,” said Irish American Heritage Museum Executive Director Ryan Mahoney. “But it was sunny out, we had good crowds, [and] we saw a ton of people coming through City Hall today. Everyone was excited. I'd say it was a great, great day. I think the city and the parade committee made the right choice going on with the parade.”

The event also included a family festival in Academy Park with performers and food.
