West, 25, was facing a maximum sentence of 7 and a third to 22 years for manslaughter, leaving the scene and six other counts. The July 25 boat crash killed 8-year old Charlotte McCue as she was a passenger on a nighttime cruise on her grandfather's antique wooden boat.

Unless his appeal is successful, West won't be eligible for parole until 2022.
