Bank employee accused of stealing $160,000

A Troy woman is under arrest, accused of stealing $160,000 from the bank where she worked.

State police say Alicia Smarro worked as a teller at Bank of America, where she managed to withdraw the money from two accounts belonging to one customer.

They say it happened over a one-year period, in both Albany and Rensselaer counties.

Smarro is facing numerous charges, including grand larceny.

The customer has been reimbursed by the bank.
