Bronx man accused of stealing dead trooper's identity due in court

A Bronx man accused of stealing the identity of a dead New York state Trooper from the Capital Region is due in court later Wednesday.

31-year-old Steven Calderon is accused of trying to make a purchase at a Home Depot in metro New York with Trooper Timothy Pratt’s personal information. It happened on the same day as Pratt’s funeral.

Pratt was hit and killed in Wilton last October while trying to help a lost truck driver. Calderon was arrested and brought to the Saratoga County Jail.

He’ll be arraigned Wednesday afternoon. Pratt’s name was added to the state law officers memorial in Albany on Tuesday.
