He killed a mother and daughter in Glens Falls. However, Bryan Redden was apparently confused about his punishment.
Redden admitted to stabbing Crystal Riley and 4-year-old Lilly Frasier last summer.
In exchange for pleading guilty, Redden will get up to 44-years-to life in prison.
He recently wrote letters to the court saying he wanted a sentence that didn't include life. Judge John Hall explained to Redden on Friday that because he's convicted of murder, the sentence has to include up to life in prison.
