Capital Region pair busted for welfare fraud

Two Capital Region residents have been busted for welfare fraud.

36-year-old Victoria Bell – also known as Victoria Pacheco – has been sentenced for stealing more than $50,000 in welfare benefits. The Schenectady resident hid the fact her husband has a good job at a hospital. She has to pay the money back and is on probation.

A Cohoes woman, 57-year-old Donna Smith, pleaded guilty for collecting disability benefits while she was working. She faces up to five years in prison.
