SARATOGA SPRINGS – A local teen is once again helping to make sure everyone in the community has a happy, hearty holiday season.

TJ Tracy, along with his friends and family, spent Sunday assembling Thanksgiving baskets for those less fortunate. He started TJ’s Turkeys nine years ago when he was just nine years old.

In its first year, he raised $200. Since then, the charity has blossomed into something he could have never imagined. Now, as a high school junior, he is being recognized as a "national kid hero" by the popular crowdfunding website GoFundMe.

“He works on this instead of going to lunch at school. This is very significant in his life and I am very proud of him,” said Beverly Tracy, TJ’s mother.

“It’s just incredible how we've been able to get the community involved and get kids involved. That's a big part of TJs Turkeys – giving the kids opportunities to give back and make a difference in their community,” TJ Tracy said.

Last year, TJ’s Turkey's raised $17,000 to help provide Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, as well as other needed assistance. This year, he's hoping to raise even more. To make a donation, click here.
