Car crashes into Pittsfield pet store

Pittsfield police are trying to figure out how a car ended up in the middle of a pet store.

They say the elderly driver crashed into the Petco on Merrill Road around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The driver was pulled out and treated at the scene.

No people were hurt. The staff says they don't believe any animals were hurt.

The building was declared structurally safe, but it's unclear when the store will reopen.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
