Car fire backs up I-87 South

GUILDERLAND -- Traffic was backed up for miles on Saturday after a car fire on I-87 South.

The car caught fire near the Crossgates Mall Road exit around 3 p.m. after colliding with another vehicle. Everyone was able to get out safely.

Fire officials say they were on the scene for about two hours, causing significant traffic problems. They say they had difficulty putting out the flames
