This weekend, her three little girls, ages 9, 8, and 3 made it out of their burning home on Fourth Avenue. Witnesses say two children were wearing just t-shirts and the toddler was naked. Police think the girls were playing with matches or a lighter and started the fire.

"I came out the door to find out what was going on. She was running. She was wearing a yellow t-shirt, no shoes or anything on and she yells back to me her house is on fire and her sisters are inside," explained Wayne Brant, a witness.

Police say Cherry was visiting a friend. The house is a total loss and now Cherry and the three girls are staying at a hotel.

Cherry told the court on Tuesday she was unemployed. Her public defender says she has no criminal record.

NewsChannel 13 wanted to hear her side of the story, and Cherry told us she would do an interview after her court appearance, but after a meeting with probation she decided against it.
