Colonie police investigate tractor trailer accident

LATHAM – Colonie police are investigating a tractor trailer accident.

It happened at the intersection of State Route 9 and Lawrence Ave. around 3:45 a.m. Saturday.

Police say a woman driving a Mazda collided with the tractor trailer. Colonie police say the tractor trailer had the green light.

The car's driver, a 26-year-old from Cohoes, was taken to Albany Med with serious injuries to her head, hips and legs. Authorities say she could face charges.

The tractor trailer driver was not injured and is cooperating with the authorities.

Part of Route 9 was closed for about six hours, but has since reopened.
