Copake man accused of animal cruelty

HUDSON - A 69-year-old man from Copake is accused of animal cruelty after police say he left his French bulldogs in the car in 90-degree weather.

It happened last week in the municipal parking lot on Columbia Street in Hudson. The dogs were found dead in the back of a black SUV under a blanket.

It appears to have been an accident and authorities say the owner is despondent.
