Sheriff's deputy fired after arrest

A sheriff's deputy in Rensselaer County has been fired, but no one is saying why.

The Rensselaer County Sheriff's Department says it fired Deputy Cory Wagner following an arrest by state police in Brunswick.

Wagner was sworn in as a deputy on October 23.

All the sheriff would say is that the alleged incident is in no way connected to the sheriff's office and did not occur during Wagner’s employment.

State police aren't commenting either.
