FORT EDWARD - A home in Fort Edward is destroyed by fire and the village building next door is damaged.
The home at 5 McKie Street was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived just after 2:30 Monday morning.
No one was home at the time.
Firefighters initially had a tough time accessing the fire because of burning electrical wires.
"It burnt the power lines off, causing a brownout in the area. We had to attack it on just the front and the side and the back. We couldn't get to the 'B' side of the house, because of the electrical wires," explained Fort Edward Fire Chief Matt Hurlburt.
The adjacent Department of Public Works building was damaged in the fire.
No one was hurt.
Firefighters tell NewsChannel 13 they're still investigating the cause, but don't think it's suspicious.
