A Milton woman is accused of stealing nearly $600,000 from her dying father.

According to the New York State Police and the Saratoga County District Attorney's Revenue Prosecution unit, Dena Holmes had power of attorney over her dad's finances while he was a resident at the Home of the Good Shepard in Malta.

Police say the 52-year-old Holmes, who makes $90,000 a year working for the state Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, used her now deceased father's money as her own.

She's charged with grand larceny and tax fraud and is free after posting $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
