It is horse racing meets "Comic-Con" and they are calling it "Equestricon." Instead of talking about superheroes, they'll be talking about horses.

There's nothing like the thrill of watching a horse named "Munchkin Money" win race 2. However, do enough so-called millennials know about it.

Enter Equestricon.

"We're excited to bring something new and fresh and something truly historic," explained Dan Tordjman with Equestricon.

Tordjman is a horse racing promoter. He along with two Pennsylvania stable owners thought this up.

A convention appealing to 20 and 30 somethings trying to bring fresh blood into thoroughbred racing.

"We're going to create a space that includes an arcade with horse racing video games. People can ride equisizers. Act like a kid," exclaimed Tordhman.

Kentucky Derby winning trainer H. Graham Motion is on the advisory board.

"This is the kind of thing we need in our industry to generate interest and young fans," noted Kentucky Derby winning trainer H. Graham Motion, who is on the advisory board.

Beyond new fans, it's for the existing fans. Most people only peer over the fence into the winner's circle. There will be chances to talk to the top trainers, owners, and jockeys and also a chance to get in on the sport.

"There's no place where you can go and find out like, ‘Hey, if I'm interested in owning a horse, which discussion do I have or where do I go, which organziation?’" reasoned Tordjman.

Mayor Joanne Yepsen was at the announcement and is behind something that boosts the sport and the season here

"If you talk to any merchant on Broadway. They'll tell you, 25 percent of their business comes during these six weeks," she pointed out.

Equestricon will take place August 13 to the 15, 2017.
