Greene County man dies in house fire

CATSKILL – A Greene County man died after it appears he lit his own house on fire.

Greene County authorities say fire crews were called to the area of Cairo Junction Road around 3 a.m. Sunday. That's where they say a man in his 70's likely lit his home on fire, and died inside. His identity is not being released at this time.

The house is a complete loss. Authorities say a firefighter broke his ankle while working to put the fire out.

The investigation is ongoing.
