Faulty fire hydrant not owned by town

October 06, 2017 05:24 PM

NORTH GREENBUSH - It turns out a faulty fire hydrant that was found painted shut during a North Greenbush fire on Thursday is actually owned by MetLife, not by North Greenbush.

The Defreestville Fire Chief had told NewsChannel 13 on Thursday it was a town hydrant.

After we called the town Thursday, they called back to tell us they reached out to MetLife. Turns out there was a second fire hydrant with the same problem. MetLife fixed that one.

As NewsChannel 13 reported Thursday, even without the hydrant, they had plenty of water to put out the fire at the Glenwood Road house.
