Fire heavily damaged a home in Washington County on Monday.
The fire broke out just before 10 a.m. on Route 149 in the Hamlet of Smith’s Basin.
Investigators say the homeowner smelled smoke, then opened the door to her basement, saw a lot of smoke and got out.
According to NewsChannel 13’s media partners at the Post-Star, firefighters had to use a saw to cut open one of the garage doors.
One firefighter was treated for exhaustion.
So far, there is no word on a cause.
