HOOSICK FALLS - The cold conditions caused problems for firefighters in Hoosick Falls.
A fire started Thursday morning on Waldron Avenue. Firefighters tell NewsChannel 13 the home was fully involved when they got to the scene.
The house was destroyed, but crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to other homes.
The brutal cold led to issues with hydrants and more for firefighters at the house.
"It just makes a very difficult situation, 'cause everything's iced over. The ladders are slippery. The tools are slippery. Your gloves are frozen. You just can't hold onto things very well," explained Asst. Chief Jonathan Coon, with the Hoosick Falls Fire Department.
Investigators think the fire started on the second floor.
One firefighter was hurt.
The Red Cross is helping the family that was displaced.
