Fire destroys Rotterdam home

ROTTERDAM - Just three days before Christmas, a raging fire has destroyed everything owned by a single Rotterdam mother and her three children.
When the fire broke out early Friday afternoon at 2035 Westside Avenue, Leila Iadicicco and her children Kailey, 17, Tyler, 14, and Leah, 8, were not at home, but neighbors who first spotted the flames didn't know that at the time.
"It was very scary," said Candy Gillingham, who lives across the street, "I actually had to call the daughter to confirm she was not in the house. The investigator asked me to call and I called to get confirmation and then they were checking to see where the son was so someone else called him. We knew the mother was at work and then we knew the youngest daughter was with her dad."
Seven family pets, including three dogs and four cats were unaccounted for after the fire, and presumed to have perished.
For the time being, the Iadicicco's will be staying with family members.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A Gofundme page has been set up to help Leila and her children. We have set up a link on this website.
