Flip-flops make a hopeful impression to inspire others

COBLESKILL - A little inspiration is what a group of women in Cobleskill is trying to offer beachgoers this summer. All they have to do is walk.

It started when Maggie Pryor made decals with inspiring messages for her kids. They posted them on their lockers and the other kids liked them so much, the decals spread like wildfire.

However, the “lightbulb moment” came when Pryor’s daughter, Hope, came up with an even better idea: take the inspiring messages and put them on the bottom of flip-flops. That way, anytime someone walked on the beach, it would leave an inspiring message in the sand.

However, it wasn't a walk in the park. With her co-owner, Michele Strobeck, and Hope, they spent hours researching the idea, found a company to produce the flip flops and “Inspired Imprints” began to make an impression.

They're sold at Grapevine Farms Country Shop in Cobleskill and trips to shops along the boardwalk and other beachfronts are planned with the hope that one day along with sand castles, and sea shells, beachgoers will enjoy a little light reading.
