GE plans to demolish old Fort Edward manufacturing building

FORT EDWARD - General Electric plans to demolish its main manufacturing building in Fort Edward.

NewsChannel 13’s media partners at the Post-Star newspaper report the company hopes to complete the work by 2018.

In a statement, the company says the building is antiquated, lacks modern manufacturing and communications systems and would likely have no value to another user in the future.

The building has been closed since GE moved its manufacturing operations from its Fort Edward plant to Florida.
