Funeral plans are underway for a longtime local police officer who was struck by a car and killed.
Northville Police Officer Robert Johnson had just finished his shift Monday night, when he spotted a driver who had hit a deer on Route 30. He stopped to help and that's when he was hit by another vehicle.
A viewing will take place on Saturday, July 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Gloversville Middle School. The funeral will be at the middle school on Sunday, July 9 at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Ferndale Cemetery.
Investigators ruled it an accident and that driver won't face charges.
Johnson's career in law enforcement stretches back over four decades, spending time on the force in Gloversville, as well as with the sheriff's department.
