Tables arrive at Rivers Casino

SCHENECTADY - After waiting for the trucks to finally arrive all the way from Las Vegas, and then seeing their contents unloaded, rolled down the ramp, and unraveled right before her eyes, the Rivers Casino Vice President of Operations Rosemarie Cook says she felt like an expectant mother.
"We're 8 1/2 months pregnant right now," says Rosemarie Cook, vice president of casino operations, "It's exciting, it's scary, there's the full sea of emotion."
The sea of emotion was stirred by the arrival of 67 brand new, custom-made gaming tables: craps, roulette, blackjack, and 15 poker tables, which according to Poker Room Manager Bruce Dixon, was just what the doctor ordered.
"It's less than a month from us giving birth to this, " Dixon says, "We can't wait to welcome everyone."
Dixon says table designers have thought of everything, pointing out that players can not only store their cell phones and Ipads in pullout drawings built into the tables, they can recharge them and text in food orders that can be delivered straight to the tables.
"We're determined to keep them at the tables," Dixon says, "Absolutely, that's the goal."
The immediate goal is to set the gaming tables in place, on a 50,000 square foot gaming floor, where more than 1,100 slot machines, which were delivered in December, are already in place.
"We've got tables today, slots are in, chips are coming, dice are coming, food and beverage is also arriving," Cook says gleefully, "Every day truckload after truckload (comes in), all the things we need to be up and running and it's all on schedule."
Opening night at the Rivers Casino is February 8.
