TROY -- A new tradition kicked off in the Capital Region on Saturday.

The first-ever Grilled Cheese Festival was held at the Takk House. Hundreds packed the house, warming their stomachs on a cold afternoon with delicious, gooey grilled cheese sandwiches from a variety of local restaurants.

Organizers say they were looking for an original way to bring the community together.

“We wanted to do something different that no one had done before,” said organizer Tyleigh Versocki.

In addition to the creative sandwiches, festival goers were treated to live music and a variety of craft beers and ciders.
