Guilderland police warn of phone scam

Guilderland police are warning of a phone scam.

They say someone saying they're from police called a resident and threatened to arrest them. The resident was told they could call legal support at an 844 area code, where they would have been asked to send money to prevent the arrest.

Even more alarming, the real Guilderland police phone number displayed on the caller ID.

Guilderland police say if you get a call like that, hang up and call the real police at (518) 356-1501.
