Home school students seek level playing field

Parents who home school their children are fighting for them to be able to play high school sports. Thirty one out of fifty states allow home schooled students to play sports for their local high school teams. New York is not one of them.

Many home school families say since they pay the same taxes as everyone else - their child should be allowed to play. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association says public education isn't an ala carte menu - and that students need to be a student at the school they want to represent.

There is a bill under consideration at the Capitol at that would allow home school students to play.
