Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire in the cellar and first floor.

A person was trapped in the cellar and couldn't be rescued.

"As you all know, it's a tragedy. It's the day after Christmas. That's when we get most of our fires. It's cold outside. It's going to be bitter cold all during the week. We hate to come to fires like this," admitted Chief Henry Smith with the Westmere Fire Department.

The fire chief says they're still trying to determine where and how the fire started.
