HUDSON -- “It's a hurting thing,” said Hudson resident Altamese Lewis. “And it makes me think and watch children more.”

Lewis has lived in the public housing complex on North 2nd Street for about 12 years.

Behind it on the same property are more apartments known as the "low rises."

That’s where Hudson police said 32-year-old Jason Davis raped a 14-year-old girl he knew well.

“A Hudson man was having sexual relations with a juvenile in an apartment downtown,” said Hudson Police Chief Edward Moore.

Police said Davis lived there with his girlfriend, 34-year-old Ciera Patrick.

Investigators said a tip led them to search Davis' apartment for equipment related to recording sexual acts.

Inside they found evidence, including four computers, seven cell phones, cameras and storage disks.

“Most disturbing was what I would describe as a makeshift studio,” Moore said. “The living area the main living area when you first go into the apartment and the upstairs bedroom seemed to be a lot of filming, he said.

“I got 39 grandchildren and 48 great grands,” Lewis said.

Police don't believe other victims are involved but Lewis said she is still concerned for her family's safety.

“It came out in the paper,” Lewis said. “They were talking about it and I said what because my niece lives next door to him,” she said.

Her niece’s son, Javeh Brown, used to play with children who lived with Davis and Patrick.

“They was nice and kind and respectful,” Brown said.

Davis is charged with second-degree rape, possessing a sexual performance by a child, both felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Patrick is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child.

Police expect more charges to be filed.

“You just have to watch and keep your children to yourself,” Lewis said.

Police said Davis previously served time for robbery and is currently part of a drug investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

Davis and Patrick are being held in county jail on 50 and 30-thousand dollar bonds respectively.

They are both due back in Hudson City Court Friday morning.

Police are also looking into whether they distributed any of the child pornography found in their apartment.
