SARATOGA SPRINGS – Hundreds marched for peace in Saratoga Springs on Thursday night.

Members of the Saratoga Immigration Coalition organized the event to drive home the message that “all are welcome here.”

Participants were encouraged to meet at three locations, Union Avenue, Beekman Street and North Broadway. The locations were significant for their historical connections to immigrants.

People then met up in Congress Park for a vigil. The event drew local support and even the attention of some out-of-towners visiting the Spa City.

"To come here and see this demonstration in what I consider a bastion of conservatism, it's remarkable to me,” said Carlos Bermudez of Berkeley, California. “I was immediately attracted just like a magnet pulled over.”

Information and resources were also provided for immigrants and refugees.
