Simon is a member of the Vikings basketball team who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Organizers say they want to help get him back healthy and on the court as quickly as they can.

"It’s what it’s all about," said HVCC Director of Athletics Justin Hoyt. "It’s why we’re a community college. We like to do things that involve the community as much as possible. To see everyone pull together for this young man is a tremendous effort.”

Simon is a Troy native who went to Green Tech High School. He is averaging nearly six points a game this year for the Vikings.
