ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - An upstate New York community college is receiving a federal grant for a facility to train students for high-tech manufacturing jobs.

The $1.5 million from the Economic Development Administration is going to Hudson Valley Community College in Troy. The money will be used for an advanced manufacturing technologies training facility that will include classrooms, labs, demonstration areas, a student advisement center and computer-aided manufacturing simulation workstations.

The award was announced Thursday by U.S. Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, who represent New York.

Schumer says the project is expected to help the local economy, support private capital investment, and create jobs in the region.
