April 13, 2018 12:22 PM

ALBANY – There is no more “play” at “Playdium.” Now, it’s all about business as the 78-year old bowling alley is on the auction block.

On Saturday, April 14, Mazzone’s Auction Service will sell off just about everything at the former bowling Alley at the corner of Ontario St. and Park Ave. It opened in 1940 but was sold recently to make way for new apartments and mixed use business.

"A lot of people have been in and asking for something that says ‘Playdium,’” said GM Mike Lucey, then joking, “We don't have a lot of stuff that says ‘Playdium’ on it but we can always write it on something."

There are flat screen TVs, neon bar signs, gumball machines, seating, French fry cutter, meat grinder, hot fudge pot and plenty of pint glasses and pitchers up for auction. There is even a pay phone.

"Bittersweet, you know,” Lucey said. “Life goes on."

Click here for the items that will be up for auction. The auction preview starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at 363 Ontario Street, the site of The Playdium. The auction starts an hour later.
