CANAAN - Police say a man flagged down a trucker, then robbed him.

It happened at State Routes 22 and 295 in Canaan Monday morning.

Police say 39-year-old Jeffrey Treffy got the driver’s attention by flagging him down next to what appeared to be a disabled vehicle. They say he only made off with a cell phone.

Treffy was arrested on State Route 20 in New Lebanon a short time later.

He’s now in the Columbia County Jail.
