Civil confinement sought for sex offender after 12 years in prison

Convicted sex offender John Regan will go in front of a judge on Monday.

Regan was supposed to be set free on Friday after serving 12 years in prison. However, the state Department of Corrections was served a court order seeking civil confinement.

Back in 2005, Regan tried to kidnap a Saratoga Springs High School student on Halloween night. Police say his vehicle was full of tarps, shovels and rope.

Back in 1993, he raped a Connecticut woman at gunpoint.
