Release postponed for man jailed in 2005 attempted kidnapping

October 12, 2017 05:40 PM

There is a new development in the case of the man who tried to kidnap a Saratoga Springs running star back in 2005. NewsChannel 13's Mark Mulholland has learned that John Regan's release from prison has been postponed.

As NewsChannel 13 reported back in August, Regan was supposed to get out of prison on October 27 and appeared headed to Saratoga County. However, it turns out he's having trouble finding a place to live.

Saratoga Springs police say state parole told them on Thursday that Regan won't be released until they can approve his living arrangements. As of Thursday, Regan hasn't told them where he will live.

State parole says it takes about a month for them to vet a parolee's housing plans, so even if Regan told them on Friday where he wants to go, he won't be released on October 27.
