ALBANY - There's a new top mom in the Capital Region. The 20th annual Mother of the Year contest was held Sunday at Albany's Tulip Festival. It honored five finalists, who are nominated by loved ones.
Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan greeted the mothers before the winner, June MacClelland of Wilton, was announced.
She said motherhood to her means unconditional love.
"Total commitment, you're there for everything, doesn't matter what else is going on. You have a child that needs your attention, you have to pay attention. So that's what it is to me, commitment, pure love, total commitment."
MacClelland has been a mother for 30 years and raised a daughter with Down syndrome.
