Latham teen delivers hats for cancer patients

December 09, 2017 02:31 PM

Nine-hundred hats were delivered to Albany Medical Center for childhood cancer patients - all because of a 14-year-old Latham native.

Jeremy Wernick has been collecting hats for his annual "Hatsgiving" for five years now.

Jeremy came up with the idea after shaving his head for the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

He set a record this year, collecting more than 2,700 hats total that will be shipped to 16 cancer centers in 15 states.

We're proud to say Jeremy is the son of WNYT's executive producer, Jeff Wernick.

Congratulations on the both of them for another successful Hatsgiving!
