Malta man accused of smuggling cigarettes

A man from Malta has been busted, accused of smuggling illegal cigarettes into the Capital Region.

The New York State Department of Tax and Finance says if convicted, 35-year-old Vincent Cheung faces fines of up to $138,000.

The state accuses Cheung of being a trafficker in cigarettes. Cheung’s vehicle was stopped by border patrol in Franklin County.
