Man dies in Washington County fire

HAMPTON - A 73-year-old man died in a house fire in Washington County.

A woman was also badly burned in the fire. She has been rushed to Rutland Regional Hospital. The Washington County Sheriff's Office says firefighters found her trying to escape out the back of the home. She has burns on her face, arms and back.

The fire broke out around 8 p.m. Wednesday at 448 South Road in the town of Hampton, near Whitehall.

The fire was out by 10:30 p.m.
