Man pleads not guilty to brutal beating

ALBANY - The man accused of brutally beating a 63-year-old woman in Albany has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Gerard Burks was arraigned Monday morning on one count of second-degree murder.

District Attorney David Soares says Burks beat 63-year-old Lori Milk in the area of 101 South Pearl Street in Albany on November 5.

The district attorney’s office says the two did not know each other.

Burks is being held in the county jail.
