Well-known member of Capital Region Jewish community tragically killed in hit-and-run

A woman well-known in the Capital Region Jewish community was tragically killed over the weekend.

In a message to members, Temple Israel and Temple Beth Emeth in Albany both say Micki Groper was killed by a hit-and-run driver while crossing the street in North Carolina this past weekend. She had retired and was on her way back to Florida after a visit to Albany.

Groper spent time working at both temples, especially with children.

Her husband, Glenn Groper, was a cantor at Beth Emeth.

A funeral will be held in Florida.
