LEEDS -- A motorcycle ride will raise funds to find a Catskill native believed lost while mountain climbing in Russia.

Steven Beare grew up in Catskill. He moved to Littleton, Colorado and became a police officer. Beare was an accomplished climber when he was presumably killed in a storm while climbing Mount Elbrus in Russia in June. His body still hasn’t been found.

The motorcycle ride, slated for Saturday, will be part of a fundraising effort to pay for a trip to Russia so climbers can locate and retrieve Beare’s body.

The motorcycle ride begins at 11 a.m. at Betty's Restaurant in Leeds. The ride will end at the Inn at Leeds around 3 p.m. with a party. Donations will be collected.
